Are Your Emotions Killing You?

Addressing Emotional trauma considerably reduces the need for medication and increases recovery rates from chronic and life-threatening disease, right from the first session.
Despite the enormous sums invested in medical research and development, disease prevalence continues to steadily rise. At present, there are 200,000 cancer patients in Israel. 28,000 new cases are diagnosed every year. According to The Israeli National Cancer Registry, one in every three Israelis will develop cancer.
No less disturbing, is a 70% prevalence of chronic disease in people 65 or older. The only medical solution offered is palliative medication.

But the surprising fact is, that although vast research and conclusive testimonies that have been demonstrating that inner conflicts and/or emotional trauma play a significant role in the development of chronic disease - when disease is diagnosed, conventional medicine does not include emotional therapy in medical protocols.

I’m not going to go into the reasons for that, but rather, I’m going to explore alternative approaches that do address the emotional component of disease.

Scientific Proof - Every Disease Has an Emotional Component
Candice Pert – Research Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University, Washington DC, considered by many, “The Mother of Psychoneuroimmunology”, and “The Goddess of Neuroscience” – proved a biochemical connection between emotions and the immune system back in the 1980’s. She also proved that unaddressed emotional trauma and conflicts are stored in the body, disrupting normal cell functioning, ultimately associated with the development of physical disease. The most revolutionary insight at the time, was that every disease has an emotional component!

The Common Solution
Following Prof. Pert’s findings and numerous other scientific studies, public awareness started shifting, causing more and more people to start exploring various therapeutic options that address health-related emotional issues. The health establishment referred most cases to conventional psychology which, over time, turned out to be relatively ineffective in the context of physical health issues. Moreover, it was out of reach for many, due to the length of time required to achieve results and the high costs.

Joan Jacobs – Emotional Healing Specialist and external teacher at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Leon and Matilda Recananti School of Community Health Sciences at The Ben Gurion University, Israel – developed The Inner Story Model, which facilitates easy and accurate identification of emotional conflicts, dysfunctional coping mechanisms and specific personality traits associated with disease and other crisis situations. By focusing on the specific emotional issues associated with specific health conditions, therapeutic processes are considerably shorter, more effective and less costly.
With thirty years’ experience behind her, and thousands of people whom she has guided from disease to health, Joan says that the model got its inspiration from her own healing process, involving an incurable chronic disease. After she had tried dozens of therapy modalities, including conventional psychology, the only therapy that helped her was emotional healing.

In her clinical work, Joan encountered three very significant professional challenges, which she strived to address when developing The Inner Story Model. She describes these three challenges:

1. Complexity of the Emotional Realm
The emotional realm is intricate and complex. We all have an enormous amount of emotionally charged life events stored in our body. Therefore, finding the exact emotional issue associated with specific health conditions is often like searching for a needle in a haystack. When in therapy, people seek solutions for specific problems. They are not in therapy to explore their inner world.
“I looked for a way to accurately identify the specific emotional theme that needs to be addressed in order to support physical recovery."

2. Multiple-Disease Cases
“In multiple-disease cases, I needed an effective tool to organize the many different symptoms so as to identify a common emotional theme.”

3. Preventing Relapse
“At the beginning of my career, I noticed that as long as people were in therapy they did fine, but when therapy ended, they gradually went back to old unhealthy habits. I looked for a way to integrate changes that would ensure long-term results.”

The Inner Story Model resolves all three challenges, and that is the new message. Applying the model enables me to identify and uproot the core source – the specific emotional pattern associated with disease, including in multiple-disease cases – right from the first session.

Orit, dealing with fibromyalgia: “Thanks to emotional healing, I realized that my main emotional wound was in my family relationships. As a child, I felt unloved and unimportant. Today I am at peace with my family. As a result, something shifted in my body. I am free of pain and it is clear to me that I no longer have fibromyalgia. I have both my family and my health again –  and all that in only a few months!”

1. The Physical Story
Reviewing your medical file will reveal a list of health conditions that were addressed, each as a separate episode. Once you had the flu, then a throat infection, then you may have been diagnosed with hypertension, then you twisted your ankle or had a muscle spasm in your back and so on. Each condition was addressed locally, without looking at the underlying chronology. It's exactly like a book of short stories that share no common theme other than having been published in the same book. The Inner Story Model addresses your medical history as an ongoing, inter-related chronology – or in other words, like chapters in the same story. This approach facilitates identification of underlying common themes and recurrent patterns.

Why Is That Important?
"Because it reveals your body’s typical response mechanisms, the same mechanisms that create disease. When these underlying mechanisms are addressed at their core source – physical healing is much easier and faster."

2. The Emotional Story
In addition to physical patterns, Joan documents your main life events, including events that you may have considered insignificant, allowing her to identify recurrent emotional and behavioral patterns typical to each individual.

3. The Inner Story – Data Analysis
By creating a graphic demonstration of both the physical and emotional stories, overlapping points are easily detected, along with typical response mechanisms and body-mind patterns needed to be addressed for the body to heal.
Instead of shooting in the dark, and wasting valuable therapy time on emotionally charged events unrelated to the disease, The Inner Story Model zooms in on the specific emotional theme associated with your particular physical health condition.

A Real Sample Case Analysis - Client with Life-Long Chronic Ear Issues

By Identifying the exact emotional theme needed to be addressed for the body to heal, overall therapy time and related costs are considerably reduced, and recovery probability significantly rises.

The sample case demonstrates that significant emotional events (blue rectangles) occurred parallel to the development of significant physical health issues (white rectangles). At each occurrence of significant ear symptoms, the main emotional experience was “Nobody listens to me”. “Nobody listens to me” and “I’ve lost my hearing" (physical symptom) are basically the same theme from difference perspectives. After years of antibiotics and other invasive medical procedures with negligible results, addressing the feeling of “not being listened to” resolved her ear issued.

Itzhak: “I came to Joan following prostate surgery. I was experiencing prominent urinary incontinence, accompanied by terrible anxiety that the incontinence would continue indefinitely. That, in addition to a financial crisis I was dealing with, that caused considerable financial loss. Fear of the unknown hit me hard. I froze. I couldn’t think straight or make decisions. I was totally dysfunctional. Three sessions that included profound questions and homeopathic remedies, got me back on track within twenty-four hours. The anxiety dissolved, my mental capacity was restored, and the urinary incontinence was down 90% within a week, despite the medical prognosis – predicting that it would take anywhere between two months to a year for the urinary incontinence to gradually subside.

Really? In 24 hours?
“Yes – as unbelievable as that may sound. Within 24 hours, Itzhak felt significant relief. That is the power of homeopathic remedies, which I will elaborate on shortly.

So we’ve identified the emotional issue - how is it addressed?
Emotional healing has three main components:

1.De-Chraging Past Emotional Trauma and Wounds
Given that physical disease is the result of emotional trauma, the emotional source is found in life events prior to the onset of disease. By applying a unique therapeutic technique, the core source event is identified and the emotional charge is neutralized. As a result, the immune-weakening and disease-creating factors are removed, and the body’s self-healing mechanisms are awakened.

2. Modifying Habitual Emotional Response Mechanisms
Emotional response mechanisms, created during the core source event, are integrated into the sub-conscious mind, thus, they are automatically activated and continue to provoke physical imbalances. Using behavior modification techniques, you will integrate new, healthy emotional response mechanisms, based on your current personality traits and needs.

3. Homeopathic Remedies
As you gradually let go of past emotional charge and integrate new healthy response mechanisms, individually tailor-made gentle homeopathic remedies push the entire system to enhanced balance and better health, easing the process of change.
“It’s a bit like having an 'imaginary friend' who supports you on your new journey and also ensures that you don’t fall back into old unhealthy habits.

In practical terms, this means that the necessary inner changes are integrated much more easily, and the therapeutic goals are achieved much faster. The final result is a process which is much more time- and cost-effective, exactly as in Itzhak’s case.

Gila:” Thanks to emotional healing, I understand the connection between my physical and emotional states. I learned how to react to my emotions and address them in healthier ways. Although I was extremely skeptical, I took the remedy exactly as prescribed.  Following my experience, I am now convinced that the combination of the remedies and the introspective work has created the outstanding results.

Can you give the readers some guidance on how to identify the emotional factor associated with their health condition?
In order to identify the emotional factor associated with disease, you must identify how you feel about your health condition. For example: you may feel that your body has betrayed you, or that you’re falling apart, or that your body isn’t listening to you and so on. Then you look for the same feeling in your life.

Graphic demonstration of the physical and emotional stories, presents overlapping points that reveal
the exact issues needed to be addressed so that the body can heal.
